Outdoors

We run outdoor activities for all ages. Central to these are our outdoor learning workshops - both during school hours and after them - for primary school children, some linked to the curriculum, some based on Forest School ideas. We also design, build and maintain gardens in schools and community centres – often involving significant help from parents, relatives, friends and staff – and run a wide variety of activities in them.

Community gardening

A popular way to introduce people to gardening, enjoyable to all but of particular benefit to those with learning disabilities or mental health issues. Sessions not only offer ways to learn but companionship and fun. Details: children and adults typically 3 hour sessions at different locations (see future availble dates) FREE

DofE Volunteering

We now offer opportunities to DofE volunteers to work with us at all stages. Volunteer feedback is that these are great for developing new skills sets, taking pride in what they’ve achieved and helping motivation and decision-making. The volunteers are also very helpful to us in our larger projects! Details: 3 months volunteering : 5x 3-hour session 6 months volunteering: 10x 3-hour session (see future availble dates) FREE

Garden Design & Build

We focus on school and community garden design with an eye to what is practically useful to young and adult gardeners. We don’t design domestic gardens but are always happy to give a word of advice to our friends and volunteers! Details: previous projects £1000-£5000 depending on project spec and garden size we may be able to help with obtaining grants for this skilled voluteer sessions (see future availble dates)

Garden Maintenace

We are happy to maintain school gardens but always with an eye to staff and children needs. Details: typically 6 days per year 6 hours per day £270 per day tools included materials NOT included

Eco Club - after school

A core activity in which children learn the basics of gardening and an appreciation of the environment. They will look after what they plant as well as exploring the garden with bug microscopes; learning to identify plants and wildlife and – our most popular activity! – simply playing in muddy kitchens Details: KS1 or KS2 seasonal activities including planting, harvesting, natural art and campfire cooking max 10 children KS1 max 12 children KS2 3 terms of 10-12 weeks once per week 1h 15min session £90 per session prep, set up, tidy up included waterproofs and materials included

Forest School

Outdoor classes for children based on well-known Forest School principles of all-round social and spiritual development through trying new things, knowledge-gathering and a bit of risk taking! All of it in school garden settings. Classes can be offered during or after school hours.
